Turmeric Maca Balls

TURMERIC MACA BALLS

I know you’re going to adore these bliss balls! Not only are they gluten free + vegan, but they are made from only 5 ‘clean’ ingredients, and packed with goodness that will leave you glowing from the inside out!

Whilst spending time recovering from surgery, I have not been able to stop researching the healing properties of foods! In every search I did, turmeric always popped up as one of the top anti-inflammatory foods.

I’ve been enjoying turmeric lattes for some time, but I hadn’t thought of adding a hint of turmeric to my bliss balls until now, and what a good choice that was.

As I didn’t want the turmeric to overpower the bliss balls, I added cacao powder, medjool dates and almonds. These balls serve as a great mid – morning energy pick me up, or an on-the-go, pre-workout snack!

Oh, and let’s not forget the Maca powder. Derived from the root vegetable, Maca, the powder form has been related to improving mood and decreasing anxiety. Not to mention it was traditionally used to ignite things in the bedroom, Win Win!

Enough said… let’s get baking!

Recipe – Makes 12 Bliss Balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almonds – soaked in water overnight – drained and rinsed
  • 4 medjool dates
  • 1 tbsp maca powder
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

What to do:

  • Remove the pits from dates. If the dates are an the harder side, soak in warm water for several minutes before removing the pits.
  • Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender (I swear by nutri bullet) and blend until the mixture begins to stick together. You can always do this in 2 batches.
  • The mixture should be sticky to touch. Add 1/2 – 1 tbsp unsweetened almond milk if on the dryer side.
  • Empty the mixture into a mixing bowl, using your hands, take sections of the mix and roll into golf size bliss balls.
  • Transfer bliss balls to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Bliss balls can also be frozen!

I LOVE the flavour of these bliss balls, if however you have a sweeter tooth than I, add 1/2 – 1 tbs maple syrup to the mix.

Just a little note – I’m not getting sponsored by nutri bullet, so this is not an Ad. I do want to tell you though that I use my nutri bullet for soooo many of my recipes… bliss balls, hummus, daily smoothies. If you haven’t yet got one I totally recommend investing in one today! As always, I’d love to hear how you enjoyed the recipe, so make sure to leave your comments below.

I hope they give you all the energy you need for all the YouTube workouts!

Lots of love
